The Andover Township
Police Department appoints all new officers from the New
Jersey Department of Personnel Eligibility List,
preference is given to Andover Township residents. Go to
the D.O.P. Web site,

When an entry level test is announced applications may
be obtained at the Andover Township Police.
When can I
pick up a police report?
You can pick up a police
report at Police Headquarters, Monday through Friday
between the hours of 7:30 a.m. & 3:30 p.m. If you wish
to pick up reports after business hours, you must call
ahead (973-300-0462) and make arrangements with the
Records Bureau. Please note that the Records Bureau is
closed on weekends and holidays.
Can I pay a traffic
summons at the Police Station?
No. Traffic summonses,
fines and payments must be made directly to the Court
Administrator. That office is located in the Andover
Township Municipal Building at 134 Newton Sparta Road.

When can I be
fingerprinted for firearms and other applications?
Township residents may
stop by the Police Station to be fingerprinted at any
time. No appointment is necessary.
What are the penalties and fines for traffic
violations?

How do I take a Defensive Driving Course online?
Most road accidents are caused by driver error. To
reduce the likelihood of being involved in an accident
you need to understand the concept of “defensive
driving.” This course will provide you with standard
accident-preventing techniques.
Upon completion of the defensive driving course:
- Two points will be removed from the accumulated
points you currently have on your license
- You may also qualify for an insurance rate
reduction (contact your insurance agent for more
information)

What are the restrictions of a provisional driver's
license?
- Display a
reflectorized decal on each license plate
(front/back); decals available at motor vehicle
agencies, $4 per pair
- No driving after 11:01 p.m. and before 5:00 a.m.

- Parent(s), guardian(s) or dependant(s) are
allowed as passengers. A dependant is a permit or
probationary driver's child, not siblings
- Only one additional passenger is allowed unless

communication device
- Seat belts must be worn at all times
